REVIEW: Bernie Nelson's new single is your ticket out of Lonelyville

By: Laura Spinelli Bernie Nelson’s newest track is your ticket out of Lonelyville.

Contrary to what the song title suggests, Bernie Nelson’s newest single, ”Lonelyville,” is a sweet love song full of hope. The song begins on a somber note as it tells the tale of a girl who is simply going through the motions because she is stuck in a state of despair and about to give up on love. Nelson rides in and tries to persuade her he is her “one-way ticket” out of the desolation she has been experiencing in “Lonelyville.”

The song is light on production, giving the track an authentic feel and allowing Nelson’s rich vocals to shine. The electric guitar’s steady presence provides a tranquil nature and complements the sense of comfort being conveyed lyrically. Nelson solidifies this peaceful feeling as he sweeps up into the bridge and smoothly croons “ooooh I know you won’t be lonely/oooh if you'll just hold me.”

Lonelyville is Nelson’s leadoff single from his latest album, Blue, which is a 13-track traditional country work of art. From upbeat honkytonk jams to emotional ballads, Blue includes a wide array of songs that are delivered with sincerity and powerful emotion.

Although Blue is Nelson’s first full album release in over ten years, it’s clear that Nelson’s songwriting talents, which have earned him multi-platinum cuts with Conway Twitty, Wynonna and many more, are still as sharp as ever. Blue will be available for purchase Oct. 6 on iTunes, all major downloading sites and www.bernienelsonmusic.com.
