“Forever Country” – The All-Star Country Mashup That Will Go Down In History
What do you get when you combine all of the top Country Music Award winners from the past and today into ONE song? An incredibly heartwarming and nostalgic union of all the top country voices from Dolly Parton to Jason Aldean. “Forever Country” is a mashup of Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again,” John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and Parton’s own “I Will Always Love You.” This country mashup has apparently been in the works undercover for the past four months. Joseph Kahn, an A-List music video director whose last hit video was “Bad Blood” by Taylor Swift, came up with this mashup idea. The video was made in order to recognize the 50th anniversary of the CMA awards, and premiered in mid-september.
This video and song contains 30 country artists, including, but not limited to: Reba MCentire, Brooks and Dunn, Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Dolly Parton, Jason Aldean, George Straight, and Randy Travis. Shane McAnally, music producer, created the mashup as soon as Kahn gave him the idea. Originally, they did not know if it would turn out, and many others turned it down. Although McAnally told Billboard, “I think I used the word 'clusterf---' more times than any other word,” it ended up being one of the most organized and successful “Clusterf” of all time. The numbers speak for themselves. Within one week, “Forever Country” hit number one in all categories on ITunes, had over 5.7 million streams, and hundreds of thousands shares on social media sites.
This song and video went viral almost immediately, and will truly go down in history. See for yourself by clicking on the link below. Get ready to experience all the feels.
