Noah Kahan’s new single, “Porch Light,” was released on March 13th as part of his upcoming album, The Great Divide, set to drop on April 24th. The album was co-written with Aaron Dessner, known for his work with Taylor Swift and Bon Iver, adding depth and nuance to Kahan’s already introspective songwriting.
“Porch Light” offers a poignant perspective from Kahan’s mother, reflecting on the impact of fame on both him and his family. The song explores the challenges of maintaining a sense of normalcy while being drawn into the glamorous yet demanding world of being a celebrity. Kahan captures this emotional strain in the lyric, “That whatever made you famous made you sick,” a line that resonates with the heavy toll of fame on mental health.

The title itself evokes simplicity and warmth, where a porch light is a small, ordinary part of a home, yet it symbolizes comfort, stability, and a longing for normal life. Through his lyrics, Kahan expresses a yearning to return to those simple, grounding moments that fame so often obscures.
With “Porch Light,” Kahan shines a light on the often-overlooked reality of stardom: the sacrifices and losses that come with being in the public eye. It’s a reminder that the very things that make life meaningful, including home, family, and simplicity, can feel distant when living under the spotlight.
In support of The Great Divide, Kahan will tour across North America, with over a million tickets sold to date. Gigi Perez and Annabelle Dinda will join him as opening acts for a portion of the tour, promising an unforgettable live experience for fans.
