Ariana’s Most Iconic Era Lives On in New Netflix Film

In lieu of live touring, Ariana Grande is gifting her fans in another way this holiday season -- an original film documenting her Sweetener World Tour. Following the project’s announcement on Wednesday, Grande and Netflix both shared a teaser for the upcoming film titled excuse me, i love you, set to premier on the streaming service December 21st.

Grande’s Sweetener World Tour visited North America and Europe with 101 concerts in support of her fourth and fifth studio album, Sweetener and thank u, next. Both of these records came to be when Grande’s personal life seemed to be caught in a whirlwind of tragedy, following the Manchester attack in 2017 and the passing of her ex-boyfriend and cherished rapper Mac Miller in 2018. The film’s trailer shows brief glimpses of the emotions we can expect to feel come Dec. 21, with behind-the-scenes footage of a tearful pre-show pep talk and contrasting snippets of an effervescent Grande confidently bringing her all to the glamorous show she put on. She expressed her thoughts via social media:

“releasing this as a love letter to u all, in celebration of all that we’ve shared over the past few years… making music and doing all of this has been all i’ve known or fully given myself to consistently for a very long time now. although my heart is looking forward to a change of pace, i wanted to express again just how eternally thankful i am…i’ve learned, seen and felt so much. it’s been such an honor to share so much of this life with u.”
