Despite Title, Blackbear Feels Everything in New Album: everything means nothing

Singer-songwriter and producer Matthew Tyler Musto, known as “blackbear,” released his fifth studio album last Friday, titled everything means nothing . Featuring his recent singles “hot girl bummer,” “me & ur ghost,” and “queen of broken hearts,” as well as collaborations with Lauv and Trevor Daniel, the album is an upbeat, exciting new take on pop. The album is full of fresh melodies and lyrics so relatable in our social-media influenced era. Despite the album title, the songs do have deep meanings - blackbear sings about troubled relationships, his struggles with health, and angst. Intentionally putting “i feel bad,” “i feel 2 much,” and “i felt that” back to back, blackbear explained: “I was feeling emo that week.” In addition to the collaborations, the album includes a track produced by Marshmello, “half alive.” a song full of nostalgia and a funky bassline that anyone would want to dance to. Blackbear even got inspiration from Twitter on “why are girls?” after seeing tweets posted with pictures of girls captioned “why are girls so hot?” blackbear asks why girls are “perfect” and “so mean.” Blackbear released several of the songs from everything means nothing over the summer, keeping fans spirits high during quarantine. This album follows ANONYMOUS , released just last year. He’s known for his eccentricism and for releasing music often, as well as producing and writing for other artists such as Machine Gun Kelly, G-Easy, and Jeremy Zucker. His newest release has something for every music fan, and is sure to bring a new perspective of the world during these times. Listen to everything means nothing , out everywhere now.
