Nashville Punk Band Snooper Releases "On Tape" Versions of their 2025 Album ‘Worldwide’

Signed to Jack White’s Third Man Records, a beloved Nashville staple, Snooper is a Punk Rock group that tends to fall under the experimental side. With a clear-cut vibe spread across most of their releases, they’ve dialed in their unique sound to an impressive degree.

Comprised of Blair Tramel (schoolteacher by day) and Connor Cummins (in many groups such as Body Cam and Spodee Boy), who call middle Tennessee home, Snooper can be described as many things, but boring doesn’t usually cross many minds. The duo, because of Blair’s connection to education, purposefully refrains from anything requiring the parental advisory sticker slapped across the album cover. In interviews, she explained how students caught on pretty quickly and started listening to the group. This self-imposed limitation serves them well in many ways, but especially in aiding the charming non-serious nature sometimes related back to a genre known as egg punk, characterized by lo-fi recording techniques and a satirical tone. This, however, is not to detract from their political statements and stances, which are very much a core part of the band’s identity.

‘Worldwide’ saw Snooper embark on their second LP recording process, the album ‘Super Snooper’ being their first. Given the genre they inhabit, the jump up in recording fidelity between albums 1 and 2 may not have been for everyone. But not to worry, with the release of 'Worldwide On Tape', we get the raw insight into the creative process and origins of all the catchy tunes released on the original Worldwide LP.

Highlights: ‘Company Car’ sees a more laid-back version with less percussion and better featured sing-song vocals. ‘Blockhead’ has an even more side-chained intro, a good counter to the album version. And there is a new addition here as well, with ‘THE LONG WAY’ being a completely new track.

Listen to the release on Snooper’s Bandcamp, where you get an additional 2 secret tracks! And be sure to support them by purchasing the cassette version, with which you will be able to listen back on the medium it was recorded to, basically as pure as it gets.
