American Football rushes back in style with upcoming album, "American Football (LP4)"

Famed and beloved indie band American Football, have entertained fans ever since their landmark 1999 self-titled release and their mega hit, "Never Meant". Now, they are set to release their fourth studio album (not incuding the deluxe versions, the cover album, and a live album) called "American Football LP4". This will be the first time in seven years since their last full original album.

American Football got their start back in 1997 in Champaign, Illinois with three guys: Mike Kinsella, Steve Holmes, and Steve Lamos. They met through through the University of Illinois and the local music scene. They would work on a project that would come to be called, American Football. They released their debut self titled album back in 1999 to not much success at the time. They then broke up after the release of their first album.

But their self titled album started to gain some steam and developed a cult status amongst music fans. They got back together in 2014 because of the love for their first album. They would go on subsequent tours and release two more album, soon to be three more.

Their sound is super unique to American Football with their blend of Indie, Emo Rock and Math Rock. One of the things that they became well known for was their unique time signatures and moody/atmospheric vibes to all of their songs. Their music sounds very nostalgic but also super catchy and fun to listen to.

They released two single in early April of this year called, "No Feeling" and "Bad Moons". They both fit into the traditional sound of American Football with their moody, atmospheric vibes and their odd, math rocky time signatures. "Bad Moons" is an eight minute song that has inspirations from Lo-Fi hip hop and is an epic piece of songwriting. They released these singles to promote their newest, upcoming album.

You can check out American Football's new album this Friday below!
