Scott Wyatt Highlights the Importance of Minimalism in Country Music on his Latest Release "The

Country artist, Scott Wyatt, has just released an album from a live session recording in Jackson, Tennessee, and boy it'll hit you right in the feels! In this stripped down acoustic performance, Wyatt proves himself to be a master raconteur and takes country music back to it's storytelling roots, turning away from the over-production that is so prevalent in the genre today.

Backing up from the record, let's take a second to talk a little bit about Wyatt's musical journey that got him here. Scott grew up around music and was heavily influenced by Elvis Presley early on (how could you not be though?). He began his musical career in 2006 as an acoustic indie rock/pop artist. This path served him well, as he spent most of his time from 2006 to 2009 touring through multiple states around the country. In June of 2009, Scott joined with Armed Forces Entertainment to perform for US troops to stationed in Honduras, and went on to play the 4th of July celebration at the US Embassy in Bogota, Colombia. After a long 3 years of touring, Scott decided to take a brief hiatus from music when he returned to the states.

In 2010, he made his return to music, embracing the country roots that he was raised on, with a band called Midwest Avenue. Based out of Illinois, they won the Texaco Country Showdown in 2011. In October of 2013, he found himself in Nashville recording his EP "Night Roads" with Nashville powerhouses Dick McVey and Adam Leeds. The EP was released just before Christmas in 2013 and since was nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the Nashville Universe Awards in both 2014 and 2016.

Now in 2017, he's just released his latest album "The Jackson Sessions" recorded live in Jackson, Tennessee on July 3rd. The short down time in between the recording and the release coincides with the whole minimalistic feel of this record. The vibe of this recording seems very similar to the approach Bruce Springsteen took in recording his Nebraska record. Using the bare minimum of just an acoustic guitar and vocals truly gives these beautiful and honest stories that Scott has written a chance to speak for themselves. Listening to the record really just feels like you're sitting with Scott over at his house with him giving you a personal concert and an insight into his personal journeys and experiences.

In these 12 songs, Scott explores topics of love and loss, life on the road, and growing up and maturing. It's not a CRANK IT UP album per say, but it is definitely an important one that will touch you in ways different from just the carefree windows down jams.
