The Sphere in Las Vegas was opened to the public on September 29, 2023 to vast interest and awe in the spectacle that is The Sphere. The Sphere has been host to a lot of different events like UFC 306, countless movies and the main one, many different residencies from musical artists. The bands include Dead & Company, The Eagles, Backstreet Boys, Phish, and U2. So if a Sphere is built in the music city, who would be some artists that could play there?
Dolly Parton
Well, why not! She is treated like a deity in the entire state of Tennessee and she has enough stage prescense and charisma to corral an entire audience of people. For the spectacle, she could include cool imagery with southern influence, pictures of her from her prime, and she will be able to sell out the venue because it is in Nashville and because she is a living legend. She also wouldn’t have to go too far because she lives in Brentwood, which is just south of Nashville, so not too far of a drive. She should be a shoe-in for its grand opening at the least!
U2
Their residency in Las Vegas was a massive commercial success, so why not run it back. U2’s residency at The Sphere was a massive hit. Their “U2:UV Aching Baby Live” residency was the very first residency at The Sphere and by the end of the residency in 2024, it came out to a grand total of 256 million dollars in total gross revenues. The Sphere sold over 660,000 tickets. U2 has proven that they have draw and they have already succeeded at The Sphere before, so why not play it safe and bring U2 in.
Roger Waters or David Gilmour
This would be a trip! Roger Waters from Pink Floyd fame, is one of the best live performers of all time. He would use The Sphere’s technical abilities with the massive visual potential of the LCD screens. Look at what Dead & Company was able to do with all of the screens. Now replace Dead & Company with Roger Waters. Yeah! But, staying with Pink Floyd, David Gilmour would absolutely kill it in The Sphere. His iconic guitar solos have sent more people to space than NASA has. So with the visual aids of The Sphere, he could ascend people to the Milky Way with the combination of his amazing guitar work and the visual aids. Both performers are in their 80s, so a residency would be very chill as a whole lot of traveling would not be necessary. Either one of these amazing performers would be amazing!
